The Web-Based JobSafe Program

The web-based JobSafe Program is a new resource designed to introduce the basic principles and practices relating to safety to learners/workers of all ages. The web-based JobSafe program provides both instructors and learners/workers with alternative, optional and complementary strategies for delivering safety education.

The Web-Based JobSafe Program: Alternative Delivery Strategies

The web-based JobSafe program provides learners/workers the opportunity to acquire a broad base of knowledge about safety in a variety of life and work situations. The program also provides opportunities for assessing learners’/workers’ ability to apply their knowledge about safety in a variety of workplace, home and other situations.

While addressing all of the theory content of the full JobSafe program, the web-based JobSafe program is not equivalent to the full JobSafe program which is generally delivered in 20 – 25-hour time blocks for each of Part 1, Part 2 and Part3. In particular, the web-based JobSafe program does not include the hands-on learning experiences that are an integral part of the full JobSafe program.

Notwithstanding the above, the web-based JobSafe program can be used in a number of ways including as:
  • a stand-alone program for learners/workers who demonstrate strong self-directed learning skills
  • part of an integrated instructional process involving direct instruction, work experience/work study together with self-directed, on-line instruction
  • a means of reviewing and reinforcing previous learning
  • a strategy for assessing learners’/workers’ previous knowledge about safety principles and practices
  • a tool for enabling learners/workers who have missed one or more JobSafe lessons to catch-up to their peers.
Orientation to the Web-Based JobSafe Program

Upon request, the Job Safety Sills Society will provide workshops to orient teachers, instructors and others in using the web-based JobSafe program.

Grade school teachers, post-secondary instructors and other trainers are advised to review the complete on-line JobSafe Program prior to directing a learner to access and use the program.

Taking the Tests

The results from each test are automatically recorded. When the delivery of the program including the test is facilitated by a teacher/instructor, it is recommended that a learner be permitted to repeat a test no more than 3 times.

Credentialing

Learners/workers who have completed the web-based JobSafe program and earn a mark of 70% or better on each Part, may be eligible to receive a Certificate of On-Line JobSafe Course Completion from the Job Safety Skills Society.

For information about these workshops and credentialing, please contact the JobSafe Skills Society by telephone at (780) 413-6876 or by e-mail at info@jobsafetyskills.com
