The James Rintoul OHS Memorial Scholarship

Invitation to Participate in Spring, 2012 Inservices
The Job Safety Skills Society is committed to safety education and training for both educators and students, and will continue to provide instructional supports to assist educators in the delivery of safety in the classroom and beyond. All school district/school administrators, teachers and instructors, especially those involved in delivering off-campus education programs and/or safety courses are invited to participate in one or more of the JSSS’s 2012 regionally located inservices (Upon request and if numbers warrant (minimum 10), inservices may be held at your school or in your community.) Help stop bullying by taking part in annual Anti-Bullying Day
The Third annual Anti-Bullying Day will take place in schools across Canada on Friday, December 16, 2011.
Anti-Bullying Day is a day for raising awareness, increased support, and providing education on the issue of bullying in schools, workplaces, and communities across Canada, as well as to celebrate the efforts of those working to end bullying. Anti-Bullying Day is a day where the color Blue can be worn in honour of Anti-Bullying Awareness and in support of those anti-bullying efforts that are taking place across the country.
BullyingCanada, Canada's First Youth-Created Anti-Bullying Website, and a youth-driven organization is the creator behind December 16th's Anti-Bullying Day.

Popular Demand for Networking and Clearing House Opportunities
The JSSS has been requested by popular demand to provide networking and clearing house opportunities for teachers and students to share their ideas, thoughts, feedback, etc. with each other and with others dedicated to youth safety.
To this end, the JSSS encourages all teachers and students to make use of the JSSS Blog and Bulletin Board to share their feedback, ideas, concerns and challenges related to teaching and learning about safety.
Everyone’s input is welcomed… the more involved you become with safety, the more safety will be involved.

Welcome to a new school year and more students improving their safety knowledge!!
To Teachers/Instructors responsible for delivering the courses listed below.

By now, you should have received the “Job Safety Skills in the Classroom and Beyond” CD that was sent to you in May, 2011 containing the Instructor Resource Manuals for the new safety courses introduced by Alberta Education:
Each Instructor Resource Manual is comprised of eight parts:
- 1. How To Use This Manual
- 2. Alberta Education Curriculum Summarized
- 3. Learner Outcomes
- 4. Unit Guide to Instruction
- 5. Instruction Units, including Fact Sheets, Key Messages, Unit Tests and Answer Keys
- 6. Supporting Safety Resources
- 7. JobSafe Assessment and Credentialing including Summative/Final Exam and Assessment and Credentialing opportunities
- 8. Copy Masters for use in the Classroom
